September is officially baby safety month, and we thought it would be a good time to refresh on some of the basic safety tips to help increase the safety for the little ones in your world.

Crib Safety-

Your baby's crib should be a safe place where he or she can drift off to sweet dreams. That's why it’s vital to make sure this is a safe place for baby. One way to do this is to remove choking or suffocation hazards from your baby’s crib. This means your child’s crib should be free of stuffed animals, blankets and pillows, and the mattress should be firm.

The only sheet should be a snug and secure fitted sheet that won't bunch up and become a hazard.

To keep your baby warm in place of blankets, dress them in a onesie that will keep them toasty on cold nights.

It’s also important to make sure your baby’s crib is not within reach of cords for blinds and curtains. Keep them far away from any strings or cords of any kind.

Car Safety-

Do the research and find the car seat that’s age and size appropriate for your baby at every stage of life. Make sure it has a proper safety rating and check its consumer history. Then, always follow the installation and proper use directions.

Use the car seat the right way every time to increase your child's safety while on the road.

Protect your baby from the sun’s rays by using sunshade attachments on your car windows. These can help to protect both your baby’s delicate eyes and skin from harm.

Baby-Proof The Home-

Babies have a knack for getting into all sorts of things you might not think they are capable of. Get locking mechanisms for your cabinets and toilet lids. Make sure all your toxic household chemicals are locked away on a high shelf.

Use baby gates on stairs and make sure your windows are secured. Cover your outlets to keep little fingers out. Make sure dangerous items like knives or other sharp tools are kept out of baby's reach.

These are just a few ways to keep your little ones safe. Make sure you’re doing everything you can to keep them out of harm’s way during Baby Safety Month and beyond!
